A Note From Mrs. Royse

Thank you to all the parents that came to Parent Information Night.  I hope you enjoyed seeing all the work your child has been doing.  We have learned so much!

We had an amazing week. We wrote and stamped short a words, learned how to write a list in science, and worked on writing personal narratives in writer’s workshop.  In social studies we talked about three of the U.S. symbols; our flag, our pledge, and our national anthem.  My favorite was teaching them about Francis Scott Key and our national anthem.  They were so engaged in the story.  I think the highlight of the week was learning how heat changes matter.  We did two experiments  and both were a big hit.  In math we graphed our favorite apple and our class likes sour apples!  Green was the favorite. They had fun tasting the different apples for snack that day!
Testing will begin this week.  It will end in October.  At that time I will send home a letter for you to sign up for a parent-teacher conference. I will be able to go over the results of the testing and discuss our goals for the year.

Read for a Better Life is September 20th.  If you would like to read to the class there are still some slots left.  Just let me know.  I can provide the book or you may bring your own.
